Volunteer to Help Us at the Los Banos Veterans Parade

It takes many helping hands to bring the Los Banos Veterans Parade to the community. Whether you would like to join the Parade Committee or be part of the “Day Of” Support Team, your contribution is valuable.

Parade Committee

Monthly meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Los Banos Veterans Hall, 615 E Street, Los Banos, CA.  Contribute to discussions pertaining to the Los Banos Veterans Parade such as ideas regarding fundraising, parade theme, school contest, advertising, mailings, and much more.

Support Team

We have a variety of roles to fill on Parade Day! Please read the descriptions below, and let us know if you have a preference.  Please note that roles are filled based on the greatest area of need in order to benefit the success of the Parade. If you would like to be part of the Support Team, please note that you may be requested to attend the scheduled meeting prior to the date of the parade.

Set-Up Team

Arriving at or before 7:00 am, assist with setting up multiple judges’ stands with banners, tables, chairs, and sound systems.  Also assist with the set-up of the check-in/staging area with a tent, tables, and chairs.  After main setup tasks are complete, add any finishing touches including water and reserved seating for distinguished guests.

Clean Up Team

Assist with bringing all tables, chairs, tents, stages, sound systems, etc. back to the Los Banos Veterans Hall.  Ensure Judges Binders are immediately given to Chairperson to calculate contest winners.

Line Up Team

Assist Line Up Director by helping parade participants check in and find their correct spot in the lineup.  The Line Up Check-In Table is organized by 2-3 people as well with “floaters” waiting at the judges’ stands to escort participants to the check-in location and/or other designated areas.

Saturday Lunch Preparation Team

Gather on a Saturday at approximately 10:00 am at the Veterans Hall to help cook, wrap, and hand out a hot dog lunch to all parade participants to enjoy at the conclusion of the parade.

Fundraiser Team

Individuals, clubs/organizations, and business owners create a team committed to selling raffle tickets for the Los Banos Veterans Parade’s annual “Grocery Grab” fundraiser.

Salute to the Air Force

In 2014, the Los Banos American Legion Post 166 and the VFW Post 2487 joined together to provide a Veterans Parade.  As Los Banos is a small town, it was decided to hold the parade the weekend before Veterans Day in an effort to not compete with the festivities of the larger neighboring towns.

The primary purpose of our Veterans Parade is to honor all military veterans and their families.  Additionally, it is to educate and inspire community awareness while paying tribute to the service and sacrifices all veterans have endured in the pursuit of freedoms.  While all veterans are honored, each year the committee selects a “theme” for the parade.

The Los Banos Veterans Parade Committee is formed by a group of volunteers, both veterans and non-veterans, and welcomes new committee members.  If you would like more information about the various ways you can be involved, be sure to visit our parade volunteer page.
